About Sada
Hi, I'm Sada James.
I have spent a lot of my life learning how to hold two things at once.
Love and fear. Gratitude and exhaustion. Grief and joy. A life you never would have chosen, and the decision to keep living it anyway.
I experienced sexual abuse as a child. I grew up, married the boy I had known since we were teenagers, and spent more than two decades building a life with him. Our marriage had hard seasons, beautiful seasons and all the complicated years in between. By the end, Kris was not only my husband. He was my best friend.
I also became the mom who knew hospital hallways too well. Our oldest daughter, Laila, lived with epilepsy for ten years. Later, our younger daughter, Maddie, became dangerously ill and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
Then in November 2024, while Kris and I were on vacation in Hawaii, he died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm.
My life divided into before and after.
At first, people surrounded us. Food came. Flowers came. Messages came. Then, little by little, the world returned to normal.
Mine did not.
It is for the person grieving someone they love. The parent holding it together for a sick child. The caregiver running on empty. The person starting over. The person who looks at their life and quietly wonders, who am I now?
I do not have a perfect formula for that question. I have lived experience. I have compassion. I have humor. I have a deep belief that joy does not require us to pretend the hard thing never happened.
You can miss what was and still want what is next. You can carry the love and still rise.
You can laugh again without betraying your grief. You can build a beautiful life that looks nothing like the one you planned.
That is why I am here. Not to fix you. Not to rush you. Just to remind you that there is still life here, there is still joy here, and you do not have to figure out the next chapter completely alone.
